Ichiro Reaches 3,000 Combined Hits In MLB, Japan
Mariners' All-Star OF Ichiro Suzuki reached 3,000 combined hits in the major leagues and the Japanese League with a first-inning single Tuesday night against the Rangers, as reported by the Associated Press.
Suzuki hit a soft liner to left-center on the game?s first pitch from Luis Mendoza.
The 34-year-old Suzuki has 1,722 hits in 1,224 games during his eight seasons with the Mariners. He had 1,278 hits over 951 games in nine seasons with the Orix Blue Wave of Japan?s Pacific League.
Maddux Finally Earns Win No. 351
If this was Greg Maddux?s last start with the Padres before the trading deadline, he went out with his 351st career victory and some love from the San Diego fans.
Maddux beat Micah Owings and the Diamondbacks 8-5 on Monday night, snapping a career-worst, 14-start winless streak and passing Phil Niekro for 10th place on the all-time strikeout list, as reported by the Associated Press.

Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer in the top of the ninth inning and lift the Brewers to a 4-3 victory over the Cardinals on Thursday, the Brewers? eighth straight win.
The latest victory completed a 7-0 road trip that included a four-game sweep of the Cardinals.
Mets Rally For 10th Straight Win
The Mets rallied for their tenth straight victory on Thursday night with a 10-8 comeback win over the Reds, according to The Associated Press.
David Wright's two-run home run in the ninth inning sparked New York's comeback, as they tied the Phillies for the lead in the NL East.
The streak ties the Major League mark for the season as the Twins won ten-straight in late June.
"We've been taking such a beating all year long for how we play the game and what we've done wrong and what little we've done right," closer Billy Wagner said. "I love seeing guys who told us two weeks ago how bad we stunk, and now they're going, 'Well, you're in first place.' Yeah."
Sabathia Homers To Help Himself Win
Brewers' starting pitcher C.C. Sabathia homered in the third inning against the Reds on Sunday to help lead Milwaukee to a 3-2 victory at Miller Park.
Cincinnati scored in the second and third innings, but the Brewers rallied behind Sabathia to comeback.
Sabathia pitched all nine innings, improving his season record to 8-8, striking out nine batters on 122 pitches.
Craig Counsell hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth, scoring Bill Hall, to give Milwaukee a walk-off win.

Jeter Hits 200th Home Run Of Career
Derek Jeter hit the 200th home run of his Major League career on Saturday afternoon against the Blue Jays.
Jeter led off the game with a home run to right field at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, giving the Yankees a 1-0 after being limited to just two hits against Roy Halladay on Friday night.

Webb Wins No. 13 Against Nationals
Brandon Webb pitched well enough for the Diamondbacks on Tuesday night to earn his thirteenth win of the season against the Nationals, according to The Arizona Daily Star.
He earned the win in a 2-0 victory over Washington.
"Once again, it was a battle," Webb said. "I haven't had an easy inning in a month, it seems like."
Webb pitched six innings, throwing 112 pitches, allowing just six hits, and walking two. He struck out six batters. He's now 13-4 on the season, and his ERA has dropped to 3.27.
C.C. Wild, But Wins Brewers' Debut
C.C. Sabathia was a little wild on Tuesday night, but he still wound up a winner in his Milwaukee debut, giving up two earned runs and five hits in six innings as the Brewers beat the Rockies 7-3, as reported by the Associated Press.
Marlins' Volstad Wins In Debut
Marlins' pitcher Chris Volstad earned a victory in his first Major League appearance on Sunday against the Rockies, according to The Miami Herald.
He pitched two scoreless innings in relief to earn the victory in Florida's 10-5 win over Colorado.
"I found out [Saturday] night at 11," Volstad said of his call-up. "I flew out at six from Raleigh [N.C.] in the morning and got here with enough time to play catch before the game. [The first major-league win] is just starting to sink in right now. Before the game I really didn't have any time to think or get nervous."
